Ethics vs Morals

Ethics and Morals, these words are used to define the way of conduct. They makes you able to choose the right and wrong behavior. Some people use them interchangeably, but these words are different.

The motto of ethics and morals are same but they are different in the following ways.

Ethics: Ethics is a set of rules provided by external source. It specifies an order or request. i.e. what should be done and what should be not.

For example: code of conduct in your workplace, principles in religions.

Morals:: Morals specify an individual's own behavior regarding right and wrong. The best short definition I have heard is that:

"Morals are how you treat people you know and ethics are how you treat people you don't know."

Ethics (it is in its plural form but treated as singular) is also a field of philosophical study. The difference between ethics and morals also can be stated as: Ethics is just only an ideological thought while morals is a practical action.

You can also say that:

"Ethics is the science of morals, and morals are the practice of ethics."

Examples:

1) An ethical man knows he should not cheat on his wife. Whereas the moral man doesn't cheat on his wife. - Dr. Donald Ducky Mallard

2) Let's take a scene of court. See the situation of criminal defense lawyer. His personal moral code likely finds murder immoral and reprehensible, ethics demand the accused client be defended as much as possible.
