History

The celebration of Father’s Day was started in the early of 20th century in United States. It was started to celebrate fatherhood. Originally, it was started as a complement of Mother’s Day.

Father's Day was first celebrated on 19, June, 1910 in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA Sonora Smart Dodd. She knew about Mother's Day in 1909 and she thought that fathers should have a similar holiday.

Celebration

Father's Day is a great occasion to celebrate the contribution that your father has made to your life. On this occasion people send or gives cards or gifts to their father. These gifts may be sport items, clothing, electronic gadgets or chocolates and cookies. People celebrate this day in many ways. They send greeting cards, make a phone call or organize a party. School kids prepare a hand-made greeting card and present it to their father on the occasion of Father's Day.

Although Father's Day is not a federal holiday in United States, but Due to Sunday all the schools, colleges and other organizations are closed. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of the June.
